No investigation in Clown culture in Peru can begin without talking about Wendy Ramos, perhaps the most famous Peruvian clown, whose program Pataclaun became the most popular show on television in the 90s, for it’s quirky humour and social commentary. Wendy has left an indelible mark on the vibrant tapestry of clown culture in Peru, She started the first clown schools in the country, popularised hospital clowning and with Patch Adams established the longest running international clown festival in the world. She is a motivational speaker, comedian, humanitarian and above all, a clown who has has inspired a new generation of performers. The following is an interview with Wendy Ramos who discusses her incredible career and the impact it has had on the culture of clowning in Peru.
